Social Impact update August 2019

August was another action packed month, with Jelf colleagues from across the country giving up their time to give back to their communities. 

After another busy month of charitable activity and volunteering days, we want to shout about our fantastic employees. Here is what they have been up to in August:

Our colleagues in Cumbria paid a visit to Jigsaw Children’s hospice and spent a day gardening and tidying up the grounds.

Hull come to the aid of our furry friends

The Hull office spent the day at the Hull animal welfare trust, helping in any way that they could.

Laura from Castlemead chaperones royalty

Margaret, the President of the Bloodhound Breeders Association

Laura of the Castlemead Office escorted the Bloundhood Breeders Associations ‘ president, Margaret to their Championship show in Nottingham and her first show since becoming President. Margaret is 90 and has no family to take her from her home in Herefordshire. 

She said: “I was lucky enough to accompany her. Doing the driving and ensuring she was ok throughout the day. The Association members treated her (and I) like royalty, tea, cake and a VIP lunch. Small gestures can make a big difference; it was well worth lending her my time to see her so happy.

Helen, an Account Handler in Peterborough, spent the day at Sue Ryder Hospice. Nice work, Helen!

Jelf Risk Management provide solace to those in need

Jelf Risk Management volunteered at St Matthews Healthcare

The Jelf Risk Management South team had a great day volunteering at St Matthews Healthcare Broomhill Northampton in supporting the development of a garden sanctuary.

With 1 in 4 people in the UK experiencing a mental health illness each year, the garden provides a retreat where residents and their families can relax; aiding psychological well-being.

Carlisle dig deep for Oak Tree Animals’ Charity

The team cleared the Woodland and had plenty of cuddles to help out a great local cause!

Leeds come together for Zest Community Day

The team prepped and served sandwiches and beverages and were also on hand to help attendees at the Vinery Centre in aid of Zest and Leeds MENCAP. Well done all!

The team helped on the stand and also walked round the festival looking for donations. Great work, all!

Henshaws benefit from Harrogate input

Alongside IDHL, Kitching Plant Hire and McDaid Groundworks, Jelf Harrogate helped clear-up Henshaws’ “Urban Beach”, moving over 60 tonnes of sand!

 

As you can see, August was another jam-packed month with plenty more to come from our amazing colleagues.
